This week didn't turn out like I expected at all! A little scratchy throat over the weekend turned into an all-over, achey cold that just won't quit. I don't think I've ever consumed so much hot tea in my life. I've been bundled up in blankets (including a Snuggie) and my stirrup socks all day. Along with the gallons of hot tea, I'm trying to eat things with lots of vitamins, like kiwis which are surprisingly high in Vitamin C. Thanks for the tip Mom! :-)
Due to this unfortunate cold, I was unable to record the vlog I planned on posting this week discussing how I balance college, blogging, and etsy. I'm just not looking my best...haha. I both look and sound like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. You know what I'm talking about, right? From the Christmas movie? When he puts the cap over his shiny red nose to fit in and his voice sounds so stuffy it's like he ends each word with a "d". "I'm cude!" Translation: "I'm cute!" That was an unnecessarily elaborate explanation. I apologize. Haha. Anyway, since the vlog post has been postponed I was just wondering if you had any specific questions for me regarding the whole "balance" issue. I'm a little uncomfortable with being an authority on things, so I could definitely use some help so I know what to say! Please leave your questions here so I can record the vlog as soon as my voice gets back to normal.
P.S. - Is anyone else feeling sick? If so, get some more tea and re-watch season one of Downton Abbey. That's what I'm doing...

Haha "I'm cude" ♥ totally know what you're talking about ^_^
ReplyDeleteI'm not sick yet, but my sister runs a daycare so it should come my way soon...
And those stirrup socks are totally in my queue: thanks for reminding me how awesome they are. I really like the colors in yours.
Haha I'm so glad you get the Rudolph reference. ;)
DeleteEchinacea tea is where it's at! I drink it every day even when I'm not sick. Also, avoiding sugar, because that hinders your immune system. I just watched episode 1 of Downton Abbey today and am hooked! So many good characters already.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're feeling sick! Downton Abbey sounds like the perfect remedy to me. I'm curing my sick days with baking and Bill Murray movies: http://noellephant.blogspot.com/2012/03/end-of-term-blues.html.
ReplyDeleteAww I hope you're feeling better!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteI have two questions for your vlog...
1) do you think owning an etsy store instead of having a regular part time job is 'worth it'? I'm not only talking about finances but also what you get out of it for yourself.
2) How much time do you spend on average per week for school work vs blogging + etsy? Are you taking fewer courses in college than normal? You must be really talented when it comes to time management ;)
Great questions! Thank you! :)
DeleteHope you feel better soon!! :) and the Rudolph reference was great!! haha!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! Oh my I laughed so hard at the Rudolph comment! I don't know how you blog, etsy, and do school but girl it's inspiring! Keep on keeping on and get well soon :)
ReplyDeleteBrooke
I feel your pain as I'm currently battling a serious cold myself....so we both need to get better. I think I will definitely take your suggestion and drink lots of tea and watch Downton Abbey.
ReplyDeleteNo specific questions, but I want to hear everything you have to say about the topic! I'm graduating from high school in June, and I started a blog (which I don't post on) and I knit and crochet a lot. I'm thinking I might seriously start blogging and start a shop sometime soon, partially inspired by you. I love your blog, and I'd love to hear how to manage it all!
ReplyDeleteI totally get the Rudolph reference :) and I am about halfway through the first season of Downton Abbey and I'm hooked! So good.
ReplyDeleteI am curious to know more about what you want for your life after graduation. I am currently in an English program as well, but I would MUCH rather devote my life to fiber arts and crafty things, like you and your shop. But....well, you know...student loans. I am very interested in what you are hoping to find, job-wise, and if you plan on incorporating your craft.
And if you have any tips on making yourself do lit theory reading instead of knitting obsessively, please share ;).
Girl! Hot port. The rest you're doing right ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat, that stuff looks way too cute and artfully placed for you to be sick. You're a magician.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon! I've been sick all week, too, so I know how you feel. :(
ReplyDeleteoh being sick is really no fun.. :( but tea and downton abbey sounds like the perfect way to deal with it. i only just started season 2 last night. love it! feel better! xo
ReplyDeleteAhh sorry you're not feeling well. Hope you get better soon! If it's any consolation, I've been off work sick for the last 2 days and I'm moving flats on Monday, eek! Lots of hot tea and vitamin c (ooh that rhymes!) is definitely the way to go. Look forward to seeing your vlog when you're up and running!
ReplyDeleteFeel better soon, Jo x
I'm feeling a little sick myself, I've had that "scratchy throat" issue for like 3 days now.. I'm really hoping it doesn't morph into the all over body ache too! UGH!! I'm trying to fight it off with lots and lots of sleeping, although I suppose taking a vitamin wouldn't hurt either. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely drink some hot tea, but I'm sorry to say that I have never heard of Downton Abbey (Although I'm in Canada, so that could have something to do with it!)
Aw I'm sorry you're not feeling well Meredith! I hope you're better by tomorrow! xoxo
ReplyDeleteGah! I so need to watch Downtown Abbey! Everyone on the blogsphere seems to be raving about it! >.<
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon! I'm looking forward to seeing your vlog. :D
so i love your photos! i'm a sucker for instagram but those are so fun!
ReplyDeleteDownton will definitely make you feel better. :)
ReplyDeleteI ran my etsy shop while plodding through graduate school, (did not blog), and that was a tough balance sometimes....what do you find yourself gravitating to the most?
xoxo
So sorry you are sick Sweetie. Just got over a rough one myself. Keep bundled up and taking in hot tea and vitamin C and as much knitting as you feel upto. Hugs and Kisses to you!
ReplyDeleteDanette
Oooh, thanks for the Downton Abbey tip - I might just have to try that one later today!
ReplyDeleteI was sick this week too! I had to miss school on Tuesday because I was so congested.
ReplyDeleteAaw, feel better! I always make my tea with ginger water (just boil a few pieces of ginger root in with your water), drink lemon water, and drink lots of Emergen-C - magic! :)
ReplyDeleteI was sick last week (actually still am, but at least I'm functioning). When I stayed home on Thursday I watched all of season 1 of Downton Abbey and LOVED it. What a great show!
ReplyDeleteI love the tones in these photos, especially the kiwi one! that would make a fun print/painting :)
