Knitting // I love this sweet house sweater from one of my favorite knit shops, Warmi.
Crochet // This big, puffy, crochet apple cushion brings a big smile to my face. I just want to hug it!
Etsy // I tried to find something cuter than this sweet pair of plate and spoon brooches...but it just wasn't possible! My brooch addiction continues.
Style // I discovered Marguerite's lovely blog after reading her interview with Rebecca earlier this week. Her style and photography are so pleasing. I want to join her and grab a cup of tea when I sit down to read it.
Art // This is definitely one of the cutest prints around! It's in my favorite colors too! It would be perfect for a kitchen.
This sounds like the perfect home to me...filled with bright colors and yummy food.
I hope you all had a great weekend! I have definitely enjoyed relaxing in my own comfortable home and felt blessed to have time for knitting, creating, and all of the things I love! I am officially FINISHED with the fawn-cho and I love it sooooooo much. Too much maybe? Nah. It is so perfect. I took lots of pretty pictures of it yesterday and I will share them this week. I wish it was cool enough so I could actually wear it this week.
Oh well, it is cloudy and rainy here in Texas today so I guess I will just pour myself a cup of tea and pretend that I am in London. ;-)
P.S. - This is so random, but today at breakfast the waitress looked at me and my mom like we were crazy when we asked for milk with our tea. She said that she had never heard of having milk with tea before. I thought that was a pretty standard combination. Other people drink their tea with milk in it...right??
Ha ha yeah I have milk in my tea but I live in the UK and I know we treat our tea a little different :)

Milk in my tea didn't become a regular habit for me until I moved to Ireland from the US for a few months, but I certainly had heard of it before. You don't get a cup of tea in Ireland or the UK *without* a little pitcher of milk alongside it... that's just the proper way! :)
ReplyDeleteI get the same thing all the time in France: I always forget to ask because a cup of tea ALWAYS comes with a tiny jug of milk in the UK. Then I have to go up to the counter and ask for a little milk in my tea and the servers ask confused questions, like 'how much milk?' and 'hot or cold?' But no, you and your mum are definitely the normal ones in that interaction!
ReplyDeleteHi, here in Holland most of little children learn to drink tea with milk. Once you get older you are suppsed to drink it without. It took me to my 12 th birthday before I liked the taste of tea without milk. And recently, in an Indian restaurant, I discovered Indian tea comes with milk as well!

ReplyDeleteHas that waitress never had tea? lol Or was she weirded out by milk instead of cream maybe? It's totally normal to want milk in tea, unless it's green tea or something (but then again I don't like green tea so I'm not sure if people drink it with milk or not). I can't have my irish breakfast tea without milk, and make Rooibos at night when I want milky tea.

Umm yes, us Australians drink tea black or with milk. Most people have it with milk and sugar. If you went to a cafe they would most definitely give you milk! You sound like you need to move to London! Beautiful blog!

If there's a debate to be had about whether or not to put milk in your tea there's an even trickier one about whether the milk should go in before or after the tea. For the record I think it should go in first.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! Here, (in Canada) most people I know have milk in their tea particularly if it's black tea. The only time people generally don't seem to is it it's green or herbal. Maybe she doesn't really know tea people? lol

ReplyDeleteI love that kitchen print! I have something similar above my fridge which was a poster in Frankie magazine a few months ago, it's fun to have some themed artwork in certain rooms! I'm currently hunting for the perfect print to hang in our bathroom...
Black tea with milk is the best! How strange that the waitress thought it was weird. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather so I can start drinking more tea again.

Everyone in britain drinks tea with milk in it. Depends what type of tea I guess. I dont have milk with my raesberry tea but i do with my earl grey :)

Who doesn't put milk in their tea? I suppose I don't if it's herbal, but my two old standbys -- Earl Grey and Chai (I'm not too interesting that way I suppose) -- definitely get a little milk and a little sugar. I think I'll have some right now! (Mmmm.... now dreaming of rooibos toffee prepared the same...)

But I live in France, and they think that is weird. French people don't drink milk in any drinks (except milkshakes?!) and say that milk is for animals, babies, and the English! xxx
