London Here I Come! - What's in my travel bag?

I can't believe it...I'm on my way! This trip has been a long time coming. I have spent months and months dreaming about the sights, sounds, and tastes of London and Paris. In just a few hours, I will finally get to experience it all for myself! I am so thankful to have the opportunity to travel and experience a new-to-me part of the world. This is definitely the best graduation present a girl could dream of! Today I will be on the longest airplane flight of my life to London. So, I packed the essentials and some boredom-busters in my travel bag to keep me occupied during the 9 hours in the air. This type of "What's in my bag?" post has kind of become a travel tradition. :)

- A cozy sweater. I found this oversized, grandpa-like sweater on sale a few days ago and broke my, "Don't buy knits in the summertime, Meredith!" rule for the sake of a chilly airplane and the cooler, European temperatures. I can't wait to wear sweaters again!
- A journal for travel memories and doodles
- A book, Paris My Sweet
- My passport & wallet
- My sunglasses & new knit case! I made this knit heart sunglasses case last weekend and I am so happy with how it turned out! I will definitely list some in my Etsy shop when I come home. :)
- My Fisheye, Diana, and Instax cameras, to keep them safe for lots of picture taking!
- My iPhone
- Last but not least, gum, lip balm and other essentials

Of course, I'm also going to pack something to knit. I might work on some more glasses cases since it is easily transportable.

I am so ready for this vacation. I have several amazing guest posts lined up for you this week along with a few of my own. Get ready for some fun recipes and projects to try! I will do my best to tweet and Instagram travel photos when I can.

Eek! Ok then...London here I come!

  2. Ohh, London and Paris are both amazing cities, I am sure you will love it there - and never want to leave. It is so weird that it takes you a 9 hour flight to get there, while it takes me an hour and a half on a train... I sometimes forget that some blogs I read are written on the other side of the globe. :)

Don't forget to visit La Droguerie in Paris, I am sure it is on your list, because it is the most amazing yarn and craft supplies shop. :)

Your knit sunglasses case is soooo pretty!! Really loving it. Your grandpa sweater as well..

I wish you a safe flight and a lot of fun and new experiences. :)

  7. Have a wonderful time on your trip! But are you sure, you're allowed to take your knitting needles on the plane? My guess would be, that you could only take them in your suitcase, but I'm not sure about that.

  8. Have fun! I'm so unbelievably jealous! Also, is an Instax worth purchasing? I have been on the fence for so long and would love the opinion of someone who owns one!

  9. I really hope if you go to Paris you bike through Versailles or through the streets of Paris! You will feel like you are in a movie:) Oh and hot chocolate at Angelina's!

  11. will they let you take your knitting needles inside the plane?? you might want to check that ;) also, this is a really long plane ride, how about some magazines?

  12. oh, while i'm thinking about it, you probably don't want your camera film going through the scanners at the security checkpoint either :)

i love that glasses case too, it's so cute!!

  13. Seconding and thirding the advice to check out whether knitting needles are allowed on the plane. I didn't think twice on a trip to Ireland last year because they're generally OK on domestic U.S. flights. I ended up losing a set of Addi Turbo circulars and a Kollage square circular set as an Irish security woman and I picked (literally) hundreds of stitches off of a Plain and Simple Pullover and a Citron shawl. I was kicking myself for not putting one or the other in my checked bag, or using lifelines.

  39. If you get a chance, get out of Paris and spend some time in the countryside. The French countryside is way better than the big cities! Villiers-sur-Loire is probably my favorite little town.

  41. I love London! Paris doesn't score as high, but maybe I've never spent enough time there to really fall in love with the city. Also, it's freaking hot in Belgium, so I'm guessing you won't need your sweater outside the plane. :)

  42. Love your blog <3 I'll also visit Paris this summer, it's so exciting :)

  43. You're sunglass case is adorable! And I'm LOVING all of your cameras!

  44. So exciting! Would I fit in your carry-on?

Also, why do you have three cameras? Wouldn't it be easier to buy the three lenses you need for just one camera?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Eeek! This post just makes me want to hop on a plane and go somewhere. I haven't been overseas yet, but I can't wait to visit Europe one day! Also, I have to laugh at the cameras. I'm the same! I bring my D40, my shironeko camera (film), my iphone, and my small Nikon digi cam. Gotta have all the options!
