I am also thankful for my dear friends who stuck with me through four years of tearful phone calls and stressed-out coffee dates. My friend Leilani gave me that amazing card in the last picture. Isn't it just perfect? "We must absolutely do what we love, or we run the risk of doing nothing at all." Can I get an amen? Haha. Look, it even has a little ball of yarn inside the toolbox! I love that she, and so many of my friends and family, are supportive of my crafty passions. I need to remember that quote as I enter the next part of my life. I want to love what I do and have the ability to give that love back to everyone I meet along the way.
If you couldn't tell, I am feeling very reflective, thankful, and anxious about the future. It's time for a self pep-talk: "Ok, Meredith...calm down. Graduation was only a few days ago...relax and enjoy it." :-)
How are my fellow graduates feeling now that college is behind us? It's wonderful and weird all at the same time, isn't it?

That gif is so fantastic. Can't get over how wonderful it is! Thank you notes are so fun.
ReplyDeleteI finished graduate school 2 years ago and I'm still getting adjusted to adult life. It's weird going to school for 20 years and then stopping. But, I love it. I don't ever want to go back to school. I love my free time!
ReplyDeleteI remember graduating from college and definitely feeling a little...a float without an anchor. The most difficult transition for me was trying to figure out what kind of job I wanted to do, and then having a hard time finding it in my area! But it wasn't too long before I settled in:) I'm sure you'll pass through this season with flying colors!
ReplyDeleteAh, I just graduated as well! It was a long 5 years of college. I've loved your blog for so long, although, this is my first time commenting! I like how you said you need to calm down because you've only graduated a few days ago. I feel the anxiety and pressure of moving on to the "next thing" in my life as well... but it's important to truly appreciate this feeling :) and it's a great one! Woohoo, congrats!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing Michelle! I agree...let's take time to celebrate! ;-)
Deletelife is about to get much sweeter, my friend! enjoy!=)
ReplyDeleteThat gif is adorable! And that card is super cute.

Knit, Nicole, Knit!
Having gone through it only two years ago, I can tell you that though entering adult life is frightening, it's also so freeing to be "educated" and done with school. I love being able to follow my passions now (knitting!), instead of focusing on papers and grades. My down time is just that, actual down time.
ReplyDeleteDon't stress too much about "what do I do with my life now?" and if you don't get a job immediately. It'll all eventually all fall into place. Enjoy the ride.
Thank you so much for sharing your encouraging words of wisdom. :)
DeleteI recognize so many thinks you share with us! All I can say is that you are a strong person (for hanging in and not giving up!) and that I think the world needs far more kind and loving persons like you! I would love to have a friend like you, I think you bring a little light in the lives of those around you! Thank you for opening your heart, mind and live for us!
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much!
DeleteI know what you mean. I love getting cards in the mail, it's just so exciting. And sending them out feels the same. Congratulations on your graduation, it seems like you had a wonderful time. All the best for the future :)

Sunshine Over The Mountains
when i graduated art school, i was really happy but also extremely scared and nervous for what was about to come. finding my first job as a graphic designer was quite easy, but after a half year or so i realised it wasn't what i wanted to do, at all.
ReplyDeletea year after this, they fired me and to be honest, that was the best thing that could have happened to me. i'm currently looking for a new job, not succesfully (yet), but i feel free and it made me think about what i really want, and how i plan to get there someday. i now see much more possibilities!
what i'm trying to say is, don't let people stress you out about the adult life. finding the perfect job is hard, but just remember that experience does not come from one place, and that finding the perfect job at just 24 (in my case) is a utopia. you'll get there eventually. :) there's pleeeeenty of time.
(PS: i loved your graduation outfit!!)
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences. I really appreciate the perspective. Thank you for the kind words of support too! :)
DeleteI love thank you cards and all sorts of cards as well. While emails and phone calls and text messages are nice, a pretty little message in my mailbox tends to make my day.
ReplyDeleteAnd I feel you on graduation. I graduated this past Saturday as well and it still hasn't quite set in. I am beyond excited to not have any more required work, but think I'll be coming up with some of my own projects and deadlines to make use of my time and to balance out the lounging and reminiscing.
Congratulations on graduating! :)
DeleteIt's totally not weird that you love thank you notes. My grandmother used to give me blank thank you cards every year for my birthday to send out to friends and family who gave me gifts. At 11 I thought it was silly, but now I love the tradition, sentiment, and the way they truly say thank you.
ReplyDeleteTransitioning from one phase of life to another is always difficult, but I'm sure your next phase will be just a great (if not better) than you college years!
Amen indeed!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I'm not the only one who wants to send thank you notes when I get thank you notes!!
Congratulations again, you deserve that degree :)I just love reading about your overcoming things in life, it really gives me hope for my own little journey. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteWow, I agree! I do also love thank you cards . It simply leaves a mark on a person's heart. Thank you for your post.
ReplyDeleteI will probably get more into handwritten notes and such next year. I've met some of the best friends I've ever had and we're all graduating high school :(.
