Crochet Collar Obsessed!

My obsession with cute collars is well-documented, so when I saw this pattern by the lovely Emma of Lulu Loves I just had to try it. I love discovering new crochet patterns that only require a little bit of yarn from my stash. It's nice to use up those scrap bits and make something beautiful in a short amount of time! That means less UFOs (unfinished objects) and, believe me, I have plenty. Maybe I should finish a few of those projects instead of starting new, cute, crochet collars? Nah. That's just silly. ;)

I worked on this collar while enjoying my morning coffee over the past few days. I love the way these two colors look together. Cream and black is such a classy combination, especially with a sparkly vintage button on top. I found that button a few years ago in a store in Colorado Springs (I wish I could remember the name!) when I was visiting for my cousin's graduation. I bought several buttons that day and I can't believe this is the first one I've used. They are too pretty to use on just anything. I can't even take them off of the paper tags they came with because...well...they are just too pretty.
I really need to find some more projects that could use vintage button accent. These beauties need to be worn instead of collecting dust on my shelf.

My friend has her wedding shower on Sunday. This occasion deserves a dainty crochet collar, don't you think? ;)

What projects are you working on at the moment?

  4. Thanks for the link to the pattern. I've been meaning to make a collar too and a crochet collar is perfect!

I think that button really makes your collar extra special. And, don't worry, you'll find perfect "homes" for all those pretty buttons eventually. Having something extra special to put them on (like your collar) will make taking them off the packaging so much easier ;)

  14. Oh, it's so pretty! I'm totally the same with buttons, too! I have a bunch I've gotten over the last year or so, but I don't want to "waste" them on just anything.

I'm currently knitting up a scarf in my college' colors - green and gold! :)

Finding the right new home for those buttons will make it easier to break the packaging.

  26. I really love your pictures of the vintage buttons! Thanks so much for sharing with us. They are so pretty!
They are special enough I might be afraid to come to a decision on ever using them. What is special enough? But, recently, I am getting quicker to just use things so that they are not tucked away out of sight and have a good purpose. You can always remove and replace them and place them on an item if you find something you would rather have them on!
My recent crochet isn't something that I use buttons on, as my last post shows @ Shelleyjomoozings.wordpress.com but I have a few ideas in my head for a couple of projects that will take some adorable buttons! I enjoy reading your blog. Thank you!

  34. Love that collar too, I have just had a design published in The Knitter, 'a crochet collar' and yes I did say The Knitter magazine, I'm doing a give away on my blog to one lucky person. I don't know about you but I am still obsessing about the perfect little black dress to wear my collar with. Usually its the other way round, buy dress then accessories but where's the fun in that! http://alifelikevera.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/arabellaone-to-giveaway.html

  36. Awesome collar! (And awesome glasses-print sweater...from Madewell, right?!) I came across an old one (at least I think it's crocheted!) and was wondering how, oh how, could I make my own. Totally inspired! Step 1: learn to crochet...
