I don't know about you, but somedays I just need to take a walk. I need to get away from the computer, away from all of the words, updates, stress, so I can go out and move. When I left the house yesterday morning I couldn't help noticing a little extra color on all of the trees. Fall is slowly taking over my neighborhood and it looks beautiful. The golden yellow bursting out of the top of the trees and the cherry red leaves dangling from the branches lifted my spirits so much that I knew I needed to get out later and enjoy it up close. So, at the end of the day, I grabbed my camera and went out to capture the falling leaves, enjoy the nice weather, and take a deep breath or two. The past few weeks (months, actually) have been a big waiting game. I just needed a minute to remember and appreciate everything that is right in front of me instead of always waiting for what's coming next.
That last photo is probably one of my favorites. It has a "light at the end of the tunnel" feel to it, doesn't it? ;)
What do you like to do when you need a break?
those are such stunning photos! fall really is one of my fave times of the year. we have lots of color here, but we're also getting heaps of rain! excellent knitting weather. xo
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful. Sandy blew away most of our fall foliage, which was a bummer. Hmm, when I need to take a break I love to walk to the local park with a picnic blanket and my knitting, sit on the grass and knit. I am a big believer in fall picnics, being all bundled up but still getting fresh air and nature.
ReplyDeleteI like your fall picnic idea. Next time I go for a walk, I should bring a blanket and my knitting bag! :)
DeleteI usually bake when I want to relax. I know for some people baking and cooking is stressful but for me it is a pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos you displayed above. Makes me want to get my film camera out again. So thank you for the inspiration! :)
I definitely agree, baking helps me relax too.
DeleteLove these pictures! DLed the one of leaves for my iPhone background, hope you don't mind ;) Also, a blogging Q - how do you get all of your pictures to be the same width?? I'm in blogging awe.
ReplyDeleteAw thank you! I use Gimp, a free software, to size all of my pictures to match the width of my blog. If you look at your blog layout you should be able to find the width of your blog column and use that number when you resize your pictures! Hopefully that helped! Email me if you have any other questions. :)
DeleteI did exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago, just had to get out and walk and just be for a little while amid all the gorgeous fall color. If you want to see my post it's here:

Everything will be as it should be. It's hard to always remember that when life is uncertain. And so we walk. And knit. :)
Exactly. :)
DeleteWhen I need a break I enjoy getting out my latest knitting project! whilst sat in bed watching Disney films... Usually UP or Finding Nemo.
ReplyDeleteBut nothing beats a walk through the woods with the dogs, just watching them run and chase each other gives you that feeling of freedom. Then its back home to the drawing board which a clean fresh head!

Knitting and movies are always a good idea.
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful snapshots of fall! That last shot, i agree, is my fave! Reminds me of Narnia in a way :) I do the same thing when I need a break... take a nature walk through the woods! No better way to let go of all the worries of life than to listen and take in the beauty of nature.
ReplyDeleteHope all is well! xxo
beautiful pics!!!

ReplyDeletethe fall light is beautiful. your right about the last photo! print for wall me thinks :)
ReplyDeleteYes i do feel like that, i'm lucky in some ways i work outside the city but life is busy and instead of taking that walk i'm visiting family down south this weekend so in its own way that is getting away from it all :)

I love the last one also. looks like something out of a fairy tale!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures! The light, the colours... I love fall.
ReplyDeleteOh Meredith, beautiful pictures!! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the last one also the best! I also love to go outside for a walk, when I need a little break. Especially in fall/winter, when it's a cold(er) outside.
Sometimes a good cup of tea with a cookie is also a wonderful thing to forget everything around you. :)
Beautiful! I'd like to get out this weekend, take pictures and sketch :) Sounds peaceful. ♥Lindsay
ReplyDeleteHoney I couldn't agree more! Somedays you just have to drop it all and go into nature.
